Principal Investigator

Catherine E. Mosher, Ph.D.

Professor, Psychology at Indiana University Indianapolis (IUI)
Member, Indiana University Simon Comprehensive Cancer Center

I am a professor of psychology at Indiana University Indianapolis (IUI). Since 2010, I have been directing the Behavioral Oncology laboratory. I have a Ph.D. in clinical psychology from SUNY Albany, and I completed postdoctoral training in psycho-oncology at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. My primary research interests are: (1) developing, evaluating, and disseminating psychosocial interventions for adults with cancer and their family caregivers; and (2) identifying demographic, medical, and social predictors of their physical and psychological health outcomes. My recent projects have focused on novel applications of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy for these populations.

I also co-direct our Cancer Center’s pre- and postdoctoral training program in cancer prevention and control. Information about this National Cancer Institute-supported T32 program can be found here: https://cancer.iu.edu/education/graduate-training/cancer-prevention-and-control/index.html

CLINICAL Research Specialist

Hannah Mullin, MSW

I'm a Clinical Research Specialist in the Behavioral Oncology Laboratory. I earned my Master of Social Work degree from Indiana University Indianapolis in 2024. Prior to IU Indianapolis, I earned my B.S. in Psychological Sciences from Purdue University. My research interests include how psychology and social work theories interrelate and inform individual- and community-level interventions that improve quality of life, as well as the development and evaluation of psychosocial interventions. Outside of the lab, I enjoy exploring Indy, picking up new hobbies, and spending quality time with my dog, Atlas.

POSTDOCTORAL FELLOW

Shieun Lee, Ph.D.

I am a second-year postdoctoral fellow in the Interdisciplinary Training in Cancer Prevention and Control (NCI T32) program at IU Indianapolis. I received my MPH degree (2018) and PhD (2023) in Health Behavior at IU Bloomington. My research interests include the interplay between the uptake of addictive substances and mental health in vulnerable populations. My current research focuses on cannabis use patterns and symptom outcomes in patients with cancer. Recently, I assisted Dr. Mosher with her NIH-funded R01 study where novel applications of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy were tested for patients with cancer to improve their symptom outcomes.

Due to my clinical interests in working with adults with chronic and serious illnesses as well as exploring brain – behavior relationships, I am pursuing a career in clinical neuropsychology. Outside of my research and clinical work, I enjoy yoga, hiking, and exploring Indy.

Outside of the lab, I enjoy reading outside in various parks, attempting to keep my houseplants alive, and traveling for live music.

Stella Snyder

I’m a third-year student in the Clinical Psychology Ph.D. program at IU Indianapolis. Prior to IU Indianapolis, I earned my B.S. in Biology from The University of Saint Francis and my M.S in Biology from Purdue Fort Wayne.
